On Billboard for Hispanic Heritage Month!

I'm incredibly thrilled and honored to have my songs "La Cosecha" and "Howl to the Moon" on this list for Hispanic History Month on Billboard!

Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats are in great company too! You'll find our good friends Hamlet and Sonia de los Santos highlighted here as well. It gave me great joy to see the Hold Tight Shine Bright Project on here, the amazing compilation (including a song by us exclusively on this album!) raising funds for RAICES.

Movers and shakers all around embracing our roots.  Check it out!

I'm proud to announce that Big Things has been awarded the Parents' Choice Silver Honor Award. It's a beautiful thing and a wonderful start to big things. :)

REVIEW: Swing Whistle Zing

Swing Whistle ZingJust when I thought reviews for Pockets were over, this came trickling in and it made me smile so big, I might need further healing from wisdom teeth removal.

"If you like rich, classic style jazz you’ll love Lucy Kalantari’s voice.  She channels the great sounds of old, with her slightly raspy melodic sound."

Review: Kids Can Groove

When I read this review, I cried. The feeling I get when someone connects so deeply with my music is truly indescribable. Many, many thanks to the fantastic Rebecca for this beautifully written review.

"Meet Lucy Kalantari, a New York-based singer-songwriter who has a dazzling voice reminiscent of notables like Bessie Smith, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald." –Rebecca Yorn Allison

Weekly Sing-Along at Elk!

I'm a frequent visitor and customer at my local Lark Cafe with my son. It's a special sort of place, as it was made by parents for parents. There's an extra room where kids can play, and they hold exciting activities for kids like Construction Kids! classes (my son, LOVES these!) and a bunch of weekly sing-alongs. Our favorite sing-along is Lloyd's on Friday's. Occasionally, I cover Lloyd's sing-along if he can't be there and boy, oh boy, is it fun.

So when Lark owner Kari Browne opened their sister cafe, Elk, and asked me to start my own weekly sing-along I was more than happy to accept. This week, Red Tricycle, A Child Grows in Brooklyn AND Kensington BK mentioned my performance, making this past Thursday's event PACKED! What a fantastic time!

Thursdays at 4pm. Come by and say hello.

Pockets Full of Joy: The Best Kids Music of 2014

I've never been on a "Best of" list before. So when I saw this, my jaw dropped and my eyes got teary. This is a mighty list, and a great honor to be along side these fantastic artists.

The best jazz album of the year brings forth the roaring 20′s with no prohibition on juice boxes.

Pockets Review: Jersey Family Fun

Another lovely and sweet review! Thank you Jersey Family Fun!

Wait and See is the questions we sit and wonder as we rub our bellies as mothers and as we see our son’s and daughter’s faces as fathers. What will my child be? Will they be curious, will they want to sing, and then as we are wandering we notice how quickly our children, our babies, grow right before our eyes. Remember to dance!

Pockets Mention: Cooper & Kid

It's a really great time to be a kid. There's such a wonderful selection of kids music today that's fun for all audiences, and is still sophisticated enough for adults. I had the honor of being included in this list of Jazz and Blues for Kids: Old Sounds for Young Ears, along with Jennifer Gasoi and Oran Etkin

Take a trip back to the gilded age with Lucy Kalantari who approximates the roaring 20′s on the ukulele with extremely impressive results.
